This design style focuses on marrying neutral, muted color schemes and materials from nature with bright pops of color and very man-made materials. A few key characteristics of this style are clean lines, simple, undecorated furniture, tapered legs and bright colors in upholstery. (Popular colors include nature colors, like green, blue, and yellow). This design, which came into popularity in the 1940's, was inspired by both the German Bauhaus design and retro-futurism.
